Tick tick tick

Nathan was so talented at pretty much everything he did. This portrait might reveal a little jealousy on my part, but it also shows that Nathan had a great sense of humor about himself.

Blue Lions

I happened to be in Vancouver when Nathan finally got the keys to his new condo. We went over to check it out and Nathan found a discarded blue lion painting in a closet.

Then Nathan found some sort of drug pipe left behind by the former tenants. He promptly banned me from posting the photos on street-riot.

Matthews

Nathan checks out his mural prior to the A Little Help From My Friends photo show, Edmonton Nov. 2007. Speaking of photo shows, how awesome is this. Wish I could go.

Always positive. Always.

In the entire time I knew Nathan, I don't think I ever saw him in a bad mood. He was a truly great friend, with the most generous spirit I have ever encountered. I can't believe I just got back from his memorial service. I will always remember Nathan's unrelenting love of skateboarding, phenomenal natural artistic ability and infectious positive nature. I know my life is profoundly better for having known him and am honoured to call him a friend. I miss him already.

Nathan backlip in Morinville.

Nathan jumps in on Robin's photo. I don't remember Nate doing this, but it was so awesome to find. It made me laugh in a time when I really needed to.

High-five No-five

Above: Robin front feebles a spot that strangely just seemed to disappear one day.
I want to go skating so bad, but my hand still feels like it's trying to grow new bones straight up through my palm. Lately I find myself watching a lot of skate videos and daydreaming about tricks I want to try. However, I've noticed these flights of fancy are getting more and more unrealistic, considering my complete lack of skill level. But, I guess, who wants to dream about 50-50 stalls on parking blocks. Actually, even that sounds pretty fun at this point. "Big-flip to 50-50 stall. Yeah, I could do that."

Boom City, Washington

You have to imagine a flea market the size of a football field, with over a hundred little shacks stacked to their rafters with nothing but fireworks. Then, out back, they have a little patch of scorched earth where you can test your most recent purchase. Did I mention that the whole thing is tucked away behind a casino.
