Social Anxiety

So out of the blue Keegan called and asked me to be an extra in a movie he had co-written. Apparently extras are supposed to be seen, but not heard. So you sit there miming small talk with perfect strangers. It's pretty uncomfortable. I amused myself by pretending to have a heated argument about the condiments with the guy sitting beside me. I have no idea what his side of the conversation was about.
I have to shoot photos of a country music festival for the next five days. I wish I had the balls to go dressed as this guy.
Above: Keegan ollies a fire hydrant and pole.

720

I spotted this amusement park ride when I went to the Capital EX fair the other day.

Once strapped in, you get to spin perpetual 360's on a halfpipe shaped track.

I was shocked at how the word "extreme" wasn't used in the promotion for the ride.

I also spotted this. I know that no one goes to a fair expecting to eat healthy, but I think I'd have a hard time eating a bucket of cyclops chicken.
Hate the song, big fan of the skating.

Spy cam

A spy cam photo of Josh Kalis skating, while I sat in Embarcadero spilling burrito sauce all over my board.
An interesting read. Skateboarding looks fun.

The Razor's Edge

Jordan, Mark, Kris, and Alliesha go under the knife during the Edmonton Skateboard Association's head shave fund-raiser.

Jamie chops Stu's locks before losing his own four years of growth.

Jamie gives his nephew Cyrus some lessons.

Mudry goes clean cut. Best $20 I ever spent. Ty actually raised more money getting his beard shaved than the hippie mop on his head.

I can't believe how much these guys raised for the Terry Fox Foundation. Over $8,000 was raised through Saturday's head shave and bottle drive. Bringing the association's fund-raising tally to over $13,000 since it started in the spring. Congratulations to everyone involved. I'm totally blown away.

The new Showdown

Stopped by the new and much larger Showdown Tattoo and Skateboards store today. The store looks dope.

Lots of cool stuff on the walls. This board is so rad.

I suggest going down to Showdown and picking up the above video.
The first ten minutes of this video is pretty amazing.
I don't know what this stuff is, but the third video game is an online skateboard game.
Did you hear about this?

Chop Your Mop

This Saturday you can go for a roll and support a good cause at the same time.
These guys Jamie Tancowny, Stirling Wood, Jetski, Stuart Young, Dana Rolles, Dori Reeves, Kris Stewart, Timmy Oberg, and Graham Breese are going above and beyond. Give them a hand in making their goals.

Whistling

I want to go skateboarding so bad, but it currently feels like I have marbles inside my knee. Painful, pointy marbles.
If you pick up the latest issue of Concrete you can peep this pic of Mitch Phillips performing an over-crooked grind. I always feel I have to explain how hard this place is to skate. The ground is broken bricks and the banks are basically made out of gravel. And I only ever seem to go there when it's freezing.
Whenever I don't run into the Kevins at the park I figure they're somewhere in the city secretly doing this.
Is he saying "Everyday I'm whistling"?

Kyle Robinson

Kyle said he wanted some of the photos we took last year to update his Facebook page. Facebook strikes me as the most boring thing ever, but whatever.

He didn't want this picture of a vertical pole jam to fakie, but I think it's pretty rad.
Speaking of rad. Everything about that is amazing.

Scavenger Hunt

Edmonton sure has a lot of almost skate spots.

Patron of the arts

In an attempt to prove that I'm not a complete philistine, following my recent run in with a poet, I decided to take in some culture and spent Canada Day at the track watching wiener dog races.

It was pretty awesome.

Next year I hope we can bet on the races.
