Big O

I have to go to Montreal for work next week. Doubt I'll get to skate this again. It's really hard to explain how fun to skate this place is.

Home improvement

Above: lay-back 5-0
I had the privilege of skating Mastrovito's new cement quarter pipe the other day. He said the tiny masterpiece, which even has cement coping, cost him $100 to make.

Skating garages in the winter has to be some sort of Canadian rite of passage. I'm now trying to convince Matt that he should start building this.

Rock Fakie Scissors sent me this. It's shocking how much I don't miss that place at all. I guess I'm still bitter about how insanely slippery it was. I'd rather go skate a ledge with Roline and a wax factory than skate that place again. Mike was always cool though.
Busenitz's is sick.

Cash Cheques, Buy Cookies!!!

Above: Josiah Cariou back smith kickflip out.
Some concrete shredding you probably saw already.
I can't wait for the Real video.

Round 2

Above: another angle on a Shane's backlip.
Can't believe I never saw this until the other day.

Slide or Die

Above: Ty Mudry airs it out in an Edmonton playground.
I'm back relaxing with the ibuprofen and ice packs after many months off the board. And I've added a weirdly shaped ankle to my ever growing list of injuries. It was good to see the Mastrovito influence spreading at the West park.
This is one of the most amazing things I've seen recently.
I'm still not entirely convinced that Westgate and Grant Taylor are not one in the same, but Wow.

Ted

Above: Ted lein to tail.
Some more just terribly scanned 120 slides. God I wish I had a decent scanner. Hell, I'd settle for a decent pro lab in the city.

This comment is so awesome, "Dudes i skate with this guy hes my best friends dad".
Go Watcho. Go now!
This guy reminds me of Bobby Puleo. In a good way.
Worst skater of the year.

If a tree falls

Above: Nathan Bartlett smith grind 180 heelflip out and over the wall.
This sequence is a bit of a spoiler if you haven't seen Nathan's sick part in the Something Legit video. Despite being in a lot of pain due to a slipped disc, Edmonton's lumberjack scientist still managed to be all smiles at the premier.

Above: One of Nathan's truck's was hanging by a thread during the sequence.
Get better soon buddy!
Euro street.
Winter survival.

120

Above: Cam Lepine nosegrind. Cam landed three tricks on one roll of 120 film at this rail.
This right here is the difference between young and old. There was once a time where I'd think nothing of putting on four or five sweatshirts in order to skate any clear patch of Winnipeg winter concrete. However, my days of dinging parked cars and breathing dusty sludge in the bottom of some parkade are long gone. I'm really impressed by how many indoor Edmonton spots those guys managed to hit.
I really liked Lorenzo, Pepper and Miller's parts in this.
The Naughty Boyz promo is crazy. I like it.
Stoked on the Rock Fakie Scissors blog.

Firsts

Above: Gilles Winnipeg full pipes.
Published skate photo. Appeared in a Winnipeg article I did for Concrete Powder.

Board. Except mine was black and yellow.

Mag. Still have this in a box somewhere. At the time I had no idea what was going on in the photo.

Show. I should frame this or something. Anybody who knows Winnipeg, knows that show venue is in the hood. Red Fisher opened.
