I had to go to Vancouver recently, right in the middle of the Olympics. I was staying right downtown when the cops decided to close down all the liquor stores. We found ourselves in a tiny bar that seemed to have been adopted by the local American contingent. They were really, really excited about the women's speed skating they were watching on TV. As far as we could tell there weren't even any Americans in the race. They went crazy anyway.
