Above: Alex at the Leduc park. He's contemplating dropping in to the vert section. This, just seconds after telling me that the last time he tried it, he completely missed the transition, slammed on the flat, and gave himself a concussion. The way he has to ride his board makes it hard for him to get his front wheels down on vert.
I met Alex at the Leduc park a few years ago. He was pushing around the park on his hands. It took me a minute to realize that he wasn’t just some bored kid who had grown tired of trying to stand on his board. When he was done skating he walked over to a pile of dirty jeans, pulled on the two prosthetic legs tucked inside and walked away.
Do we even have enough snow for this?
Why not?
