I remember back when I first started skating and I thought that Tony Hawk was the best. He won all the contests. It was that simple for me at the time. I seriously remember reading magazines where they would talk about how awesome someone else was and I would think they were crazy. "Tony can do all the tricks! Are they nuts? Why even talk about anyone else?" It would take me a long time before I finally recognized style and realized how blind I had been.
I figure the groms of today must watch Ryan Scheckler and think us old guys at the skatepark are out of our minds. "How the hell could they not love Scheckler? He wins every contest!"
Ten years from now it'll come to them. It took me a long time. When Fourstar started and they put Max on, I thought they were crazy.
Both of these are pretty old news but so rad.
